What is BREEAM?

The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design, patient construction and operation and has become one of the most comprehensive and widely recognised measures of a building’s environmental performance.

How will the BREEAM assessment benefit your property?

A BREEAM assessment uses recognised measures of performance, which are set against established benchmarks, to evaluate a building’s specification, design, construction and use. The measures used represent a broad range of categories and criteria from energy to ecology. They include aspects related to energy and water use, the internal environment (health and well-being), pollution, transport, materials, waste, ecology and management processes.

Sustainable Services will provide a certificated BREEAM assessment with full certification that the property has a low environmental impact and assurances that best practice is incorporated in the building. The BREEAM certification will also provide a benchmark that is higher than regulation, reduce running costs, improve working and living environments and demonstrate progress towards corporate and organisational environmental objectives.

Sustainable Services will deliver BREEAM Certification Services are across three stages:

An initial assessment will be carried out based on plans and discussions with the project team. Sustainable Services will refer to the site’s requirements to achieve BREEAM certification and execute accordingly, providing advice and recommendations throughout the process. We encourage working closely with the project team to execute best practice and due diligence. We will also issue pre-assessment reports with our findings and recommendations.

Design Stage:

Working together with your project team, Sustainable Services will to ensure and verify that all evidence provided is updated to achieve the BREEAM. During this stage we also provide the daylighting calculations and water calculations.

Post Construction Stage

We collate all outstanding evidence and undertake a site inspection at near-completion stage. Following this visit we submit all the evidence assembled for final certification.
